whole site was originally exclusively for WBS Penguins Wallpapers,
but I decided to expand my horizons. I also thought it would be
nice to put some general information about this AHL affiliate
of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

PENGUINS' STEVE PARSONS SUSPENDED SEVEN GAMES
AND BRENDAN WALSH SUSPENDED THREE GAMES
WILKES-BARRE, PA
The American Hockey League has suspended
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' forwards Steve Parsons and Brendan
Walsh for their actions in AHL Game #699 on Wednesday vs. Rochester
at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza.
Both players were suspended for their actions that occurred at
the end of
the game. Parsons was suspended for six (6) AHL games under the
provisions of AHL Rule 56 (g) as a result of his game misconduct
penalty and was automatically suspended for one (1) AHL game,
under the provisions of AHL Rule 28 (d) as a result of accumulation
of his third (3) game misconduct penalty in the General Category.
After a review of the incident, the league has also added a minor
penalty
for Instigating and a 10-Minute Misconduct, under the provisions
of AHL Rule #56 (a) to his record.
Parsons will miss the Penguins' next seven games, beginning Saturday,
February 9 at Bridgeport (7:05 p.m.), Sunday, Feb. 10 vs. Norfolk
(5:05
p.m.), Friday, Feb. 15 vs. Hershey (7:05 p.m.), Saturday, Feb.
16 vs.
Chicago (7:05 p.m.), Monday, Feb. 18 vs. Utah (5:05 p.m.), Wednesday,
Feb. 20 vs. Utah (7:05 p.m.) and Friday, Feb. 22 at Syracuse (7:30
p.m.). He will be eligible to return on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Hartford
(7:05 p.m.).
Walsh was suspended for three (3) AHL games under the provisions
of AHL Rule 33 A as a result of his actions. He will miss the
Penguins' next three games, beginning Saturday, February 9 at
Bridgeport (7:05 p.m.), Sunday, Feb. 10 vs. Norfolk (5:05 p.m.)
and Friday, Feb. 15 vs. Hershey (7:05 p.m.). Walsh will be eligible
to return on Saturday, Feb. 16 vs. Chicago (7:05 p.m.).
Defenseman Darcy Robinson is expected to be recalled tomorrow
from Wheeling and will accompany the Penguins on their road trip
to Bridgeport, Connecticut. Before leaving for Connecticut, the
team will practice at 10:00 a.m. at the Ice Box Skating Complex
in Jenkins Township.
Robinson, 20, was assigned to Wheeling for the third time this
season on
January 31. In three games, he recorded one assist and 14 penalty
minutes with the Nailers prior to his anticipated call-up on Friday
to
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Overall, Robinson has four points (1+3)
and 34
penalty minutes in seven games this season with the Nailers.
The 6'5", 222-pound native of Kamloops, British Columbia
has five assists
and 35 penalty minutes in 29 games this season with the Penguins.
With the addition of Robinson, the Penguins will have 22 players
on their
roster - 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Jason MacDonald and Robert Dome are both expected to return to
the lineup on Saturday against the Sound Tigers. MacDonald has
missed the last five games with a concussion and Dome missed Wednesday's
game against the Americans with a groin injury. Game time on Saturday
is at 7:05 p.m. at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
NOTES: The Penguins are currently fourth in the Western Conference's
South Division with a 13-29-9-3 record (38 points) ... The Penguins
are 13th in the conference and 26th overall in the American Hockey
League standings ... The Penguins trail the Hershey Bears by 10
points for the tenth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference
... The Penguins and Bears play four more times this season (1
home/3 away) ... The Penguins are 3-3-2 against the Bears this
season and are 13-13-2 lifetime against their division rivals
... After Saturday's game at Bridgeport, the Penguins will play
five straight games at home ... Of the remaining 26 games left
in the regular season, the Penguins will 11 games against division
opponents (3 home/8 away) and 23 games against conference opponents
(11 home/12 road) ... The Penguins are first in the American Hockey
League in average attendance. The Penguins have a total attendance
of 233.024 in 28 home games, an average of 8,322
(102.2 % capacity) with a league-high, 28 sellouts. Dating back
to last
season, the Penguins have sold out their last 43 regular season
home games.
The Penguins are on pace to break the American Hockey League's
all-time record for sellouts in a season (36), set by the now-defunct
Cape Breton Oilers during the 1990-91 season ... The Penguins
lead the AHL in penalty minutes (1,806), averaging 33.4 minutes
per game ... The Penguins also led the league with 29, 10-minute
misconduct penalties and 16 game misconduct penalties ... Forward
Darcy Verot is tied for first in the league with 50 minor penalties
and is third overall with 260 penalty minutes ... The Penguins
set a new franchise record for most penalty minutes in a game
with 122 against the Albany River Rats on Dec. 8, breaking the
old record of 97, set last season at Norfolk (February 17, 2001)
... Forward Steve Parsons broke his team record for penalty minutes
in a game on Wednesday with 59 PIMs against
the Rochester Americans ... Parsons also set a new record for
penalty minutes in a period with 47 in the third period against
the Amerks ... Earlier in the season, Parsons recorded 37 penalty
minutes vs. Albany on Dec. 8, breaking the previous mark of 34,
held by both Casey Harris (Feb. 12, 2000 at Louisville) and Dennis
Bonvie (Dec. 4, 1999 vs. Philadelphia) ... Parsons is fourth in
the league with 259 penalty minutes ... Four of the five players
in the Top-Five in penalty minutes have Penguin ties ... Besides
Verot and Parsons, Dennis Bonvie played two seasons for the Penguins
and is currently second in the league with 269 penalty minutes,
while Philadelphia's Peter Vandermeer, who played four games with
the Baby Pens during the 1999-2000 season, is fifth in the league
with 255 PIMs ... The Penguins have been outshot in 35 of 54 games
this season, including 17 of the last 21 games ... The Penguins
